Dr. Cassie Mitlitsky
Owner & Lead Veterinarian
Dr. Cassie Mitlitsky is the heart and soul of Sandy Paws Animal Hospital. A Virginia Tech alum with a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine and a rich background in business, she blends top-quality medical care with a passion for mental health advocacy and servant leadership in the veterinary profession. Before founding Sandy Paws, she uplifted medical standards and cultures as a Medical Operations Leader. Dr. Cassie firmly believes in the vital role pets play in families, saying, “Their wellbeing is our first priority.” Outside the clinic, she finds joy in life’s simple pleasures with her daughters and husband.
Dr. Miranda Finkle
Associate Veterinarian
Dr. Miranda Finkle is a dedicated veterinarian with over 10 years of experience in small animal medicine. She earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Virginia Tech and has been committed to providing compassionate, high quality care to pets and their families ever since.
Outside the clinic, Dr. Finkle is an outdoor enthusiast who loves kayaking, hiking, and spending her days on the beach. She and her husband take a trip to a different national park every year. When she’s not adventuring outdoors, she loves going to concerts and spending time with her husband, pets, and little boy.
Jessica Mehlig
Registered Veterinary Technician & Practice Leader
Jessica brings over 13 years of passion to the veterinary field, complemented by her recent achievement as a licensed RVT from Cape Fear Community College in 2022. At home, Jessica enjoys the company of her two cats: Gambler, the heart-stealer, and Neena, the charming but firm “mafia boss.” Away from work, she loses herself in fantasy novels, cherishes beach visits, and explores new dining and coffee spots. Jessica’s life beautifully intertwines professional dedication with her love for animals and exploration.
